More about this scene
One of the more interesting events in the history of this famous bird sanctuary occurred after the Battle of Killicrankie in July 1689. Despite defeating the forces of William III, the Jacobites failed to hold the advantage. One of the outcomes was that the Bass Rock was taken and held in the name of James VII from June 1691 to April 1694.
