I'm interested in building a picture of my late father - Mr David Webb - who lived with his parents at 93 Friern Barnet Lane until he married my mum in 1957. I have inherited his large collection of classical 78rpm records - many of which were purchased from Sadd & Halsey at 821 High Road, North Finchley. I well remember the Arcade Record Shop and went with my friends every lunchtime when I was at Pitmans College in Ballards Lane. We also used to go to look at the new arrivals in a shop called 'Tracy's which was near Priors (later called Owen Owen). Priors was old fashioned even for 1959. I was born at number 7, Village Road, Finchley in 1932 and lived there until October 1939 when my dad's businesses in London were requisitioned. Lots of memories. Milk was delivered by United Dairies and the horse would always spend a penny right outside our house leaving a horrid green puddle. I was born in Oakleigh Road North in 1965. I went to school at Sacred Heart Primary which was just up the road but felt like it was miles away while I was hanging onto my brother's hand and he walked with long strides while I ran on tiptoes trying to keep up with him.
