Caption for North Walsham, Bactonwood Mill, Spa Common C1955: This was the former water mill. Smartened up, with its brickwork painted, the mill is now a house. It was powered by the head waters of the River Ant, canalised in 1826 as the North Walsham and Dilham Canal.

I'm reasonably sure this is the little alleyway that links Market Street to what is now known as St Nicholas Court.

I was a pupil at the Paston Grammar School from 1936-42. It was a wonderful school where boys from all over N.E.
