My siblings and I were in Northaw Place children's home around 1961. Our family name was Howlett - Michael, Keith (me), Anthony and Hilary. I can only recall two other boys names, Dave Oakley and Raymond Bonner. Dave wss older than me, but I remember him as a genial, kind person. Michael was friends with Raymond. On one occasion they ran away together. The escapes were not long on the run, however, and upon being safely returned received six of the best for their efforts. Overall, I have fond memories (notwithstanding the fact that I really missed my dad) of Northaw Place. I recall going into London for Princess Margaret's wedding, being taken to see a pantomime (Peter Pan), going to the cinema in Potters Bar to see Wizard of Oz by one of the young female staff members. Also, I loved the big house, gardens and surrounding countryside. The contrast between this place and where Michael and I went next would prove to be stark. Wolfdene in the Hampton /Hanworth area turned out to be a nightmare. In the end, we ran away. And never returned.
Hi Keith I must have been there about time I went to the mount grace upper school during my time there and remember walking there and back along with some other boys then one day I was put on a bus to Lewisham and someone met me there and taken to my parents
