Technical Drawing With Mr Shaw

A Memory of Northwich.

I recall Mr Harry Shaw and his car. He was a philosopher and social commentator as much as a teacher. He taught me much more about life than he did about technical drawing. In fact, my class always tried to get him to expound on some contemporary social topic. Once he got going, we knew that we would do no more that lesson than draw the name and title box on the bottom right-hand corner of the paper. After that we could sit back and listen to his engaging comments.

I was at Hartford from 1958-1963. Other commentators on this image say what a good school it was. I absolutely agree. I have very fond memories of Mr Shaw, Mr Harper the mathematics teacher, Miss Hunt, and Miss Reynolds, who succeeded in teaching me English grammar. I cannot recall the geographer teacher's name, but he, too, was a great teacher. Happy days! Does anyone remember the boat we built during that period?
