My Grandparents

A Memory of Nottingham.

Cannot believe I stumbled across this photo in a calendar that was given free with a local newspaper a few years ago. On close examination I realised that the couple facing the camera on the left hand side are my grandparents, Jean and Trevor Martin! What luck that they were there at the time of the photo. Amazing!

I do not remember this particular photo, however i did run all over the city when i was young. We moved to Nottingham from Wolverhampton after the war, i was 5yrs old.We lived at 7 Mabel terrace, bit of a slum even in those days (off hyson green).I sang in the choir in St paul,s church, Bobbers mill road i think.I left that church when i was about 10 yrs old,and found another right downtown, upstairsin an old building. In the summer we would go on an old Edwardian boat, the pastor would preach to people on the embankment and us choirboys would sing.Great childhood memories! Cheers.
