Still on view here is the home of Jeffrey Hudson, the world's smallest man, who hopped out of a pie to amaze Queen Henrietta, wife of King Charles II. A classic English market, surrounded by a variety of shops, meets on Wednesdays and Saturdays, drawing visitors and traders from far afield.

I went to Oakham in 1952'first to Junior House (now Chapmans) under Geoff Liebert and then from 1955 to 1959 in School House under John Moore.We lived in Wilmslow and I travelled to and from by train from Manchester. They were happy days and seeing all the photos of Oakham brought back many happy memories of the time I spent at Oakham. Richard Higgs Brisbane Australia.
Not 100% sure if it was 1966 or 67, but I do remember that the castle roof was covered with a tarp for quite some time after lightening hit the castle during a storm.
I remember the Queen's visit to Rutland in this year. I remember all the children from the local schools forming the shape of a horseshoe in a field/park? and the Queen being driven around the horseshoe waving to us all.
