More about this scene
The Fire Station and Parish Room on the left opened in 1904. The unusual 15th-century three-storey building (centre) is thought perhaps to have been a gatehouse to a former courtyard house, now Nos 67 and 69 High Street. The 19th-century hop kilns in the background formed part of King & Palmer's brewery in King Street, which was bought by Crowleys of Alton in 1895.
