Student At Orchard Portman.

A Memory of Orchard Portman.

My name is Andre Barton. I was a student at the school for a couple of years in the early to mid 1970 @ age of 11 - 13. I was one of a handful of local boys who attended the school on a day basis. There was one girl who may have been related to the owner. The remaining boys were boarders from several different countries including Greece, Kenya and Peru. I remember the headmaster well - Mr Walker - a strict disciplinarian! May have had a military background? Maths teacher I think was called Mr Sims - excellent teacher, Mr Pritchard I think taught biology and helped develop an interest in natural history. Overall I enjoyed my time there, despite the frequent warnings re my hair length! Eventually moved away from Taunton to attend University in Dundee and Aberdeen. Just retired and now living in Midlothian.
