Ormskirk, Church Street 1894

More about this scene
Ormskirk's parish church, dedicated to St Peter and St Paul, dates from about 1276. It is unusual in that it has a separate bell tower. The explanation is that during the Dissolution the church received a peal of bells, some or all coming from the disbanded Burscough Priory. The tenor bell is inscribed 'Burscough Priory' and stamped with the dates 1497 and 1576.
