More about this scene
Otterton has some of the best examples of cob and thatch cottages in Devon. Many of the homes we see in this photograph date from between the 15th and 18th centuries. In the spring, when the little gardens and window boxes are filled with flowers, Otterton is one of the delights of the county.

Amongst my grandmother's collection of photographs and newspaper clippings, I have a very similar postcard but with much stronger light coming through the windows. Mine was produced by A.J. Way, 65 Mill Street, Ottery St. Mary.
