The college was founded in 1624, and the front quadrangle was built between 1624 and 1670. William Morris, the renowned car manufacturer and philanthropist, gave benefactions to various colleges, including Pembroke. Dr Johnson was an undergraduate here, and the college is famous for its half-gallon teapot.
