More about this scene
The original house on this headland, which was built by Philip Mansel, was demolished when Sir Rice Mansel built a comfortable manor house on the site in the 16th century. His son Edward, when his father had moved to Margam Abbey, brought Oxwich castle up to date with a long gallery and great windows. We can see the remains of the circular dovecote on the left of the photograph.
