Queen's Cinema
A Memory of Palmers Green.
Today is the 7th July. Exactly fifty years ago today, I went to my local cinema in Palmers Green to see A Hard Days Night. I couldn't remember the name of the cinema, but it was on Green Lanes, near The Triangle on the east side. Was it The Queens? Can anyway tell me?
In 1964 I had started working for Souhgate Council as a tractor driver, and cut the grass all over the borough including Broomfield Park. That was a big job. I lived first of all in Bowes Road near the junction with Wilmer Way in a bedsit, but managed to get a flatlet in Lyndhurst Road, Wood Green, so just over the border. I loved Palmers Green, Southgate and Winchmore Hill, my 'stamping ground'. In 1971 I got married, and we had to live with Ma In Law in Edmonton, but happily a flat was offered to us in -Yes. Palmers Green. Osbourne Road to be precise. I live in Chingford now, but have happy memories of Palmers Green.

The Queens Cinema always had the Guvnor standing outside. My first X film "The Thing" you g-had to be over 16 at the time.
So we bunked in via the toilet door which led to the inside.
wonderful memories.
