Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

Mary Gilligan 1896 1980 Inmate In St Clare's 1903 1913/14

A Memory of Pantasaph.

My maternal grandmother, Mary,(7) and her sister, Agnes(2) were sent to St Clare's in Pantasaph after the death of their father. She remembered having to wait on the day girls and was very conscious of having been a' charity case'. She didn't have fond memories of the place. Does anyone know if it is possible to see records of the inmates going back that far?

I recently bought a large antique framed photograph of the girls & nuns at St Clare’s Convent dated 1921, rather because I liked the lovely solid wood frame and the antique patina of the image. I no longer have space for it and rather than sell it randomly If this image would be of interest to you or anyone you know pls let me know, these are obviously somebody’s mother’s/aunts etc and I imagine it might of sentimental value to someone. I paid £40 for it but honestly would be delighted to see it in the hands of someone who has an emotional connection with the subjects of the photograph. This is a genuine message. Hi Claire, My Grandmother and her sisters were sent to the Orphanage probably in 1906 after the death of their 27 year old Mother in childbirth of male twins who also died. Would it be possible for me to see a photo of the photograph ? I believe there were about 300 pupils staying in the Orphanage, does the photo have that many in it.
