My brothers and I have just discovered that our grandmother Mary Ann Merry died in Penge in 1954. We never knew her because my father lost touch with her. We were wondering if there were any relatives still in the area that could perhaps fill in some gaps about our family relatives. We are in our 70"s, so I guess any relative would be a second cousin. Peggy and John were my aunt and uncle from my dad's side. My sister's are Pauline Yvonne Jackie Eileen Franky and renie. My name and aunt also lived in q a c we lived in Oakfield road before moving to chelsfield in about 1966 Pauline and Yvonne will probably remember you.
I lived in Queen Adelaide Court, round about 1959 with Peggy and John Miller, and their daughters Brenda and Maureen; my name was Carol Jeffries. We moved from Woodbine Grove. I remember the Essoldo and the Odean Cinema and the market in Maple Road, wonderful times! Does anyone remember me?
I lived with my parents and my brother at 15 Queen Adelaide Court. The official opening was in 1951, but we moved in in 1950. This block in the photo was one of the first to be finished and while the builders completed the other block the now playground areas were builders rubble. When all the blocks were finished a residents association was formed and I think for two years we had a Queen Adelaide sports day ...see more
