50 Penrhiwceiber Road

A Memory of Penrhiwceiber.

I lived at no 50 just 2 doors down from st Winifred’ s church from 1944 to 1964. My mother was Stella Jeffery and my grandparents Mona and Charles (Jeff) Jeffery who was a dentist and had his surgery at No 50. Does anyone remember coming to see him? My name is Sue but I was generally known as Susan Jeffery. I too was in Handle’s Choir with my friend from Miskin, Margaret Williams. I loved the choir. I also loved going over to the bluebell woods on Cardiff road or up to Llanwonno with my friends Iris Williams, Angela and Ann they were a bit older than me but allowed me to join them. I was also friends with Jane Barnes, Mary Thomas,, Babs - sorry can’t remember surname. Would love to know who now lives at no 50. My grandmother’s father was the minister at Penuel Presbyterian chapel - now demolished - when my mother was a young girl they lived next door at no 48.
I have lived in Shropshire for over 40 years. Lots more to tell if anyone is interested.

Hi Susan,
My name was Rita Thomas, I lived at 161 Penrhiwceiber Road across from the Gwalia,
I remember Mr. Jeffries he took a tooth out for me when I was 15 years old, I was scared to death having had a terrible experience at the school dentist, Mr Jeffries was lovely to me and took so much care.
