What Should We Have For Tea - a Memory of Pentraeth.

My aunt could make a meal from practically nothing, and those war years really put her cooking to the test. No choice of meat in the butchers, if you were at the end of the queue you took pot luck with what was left.
One morning, aunt arrived home absolutely frustrated, after queuing for over an hour all she managed to buy was a pound of sausage, but she would not be beat, she planned her evening meal, determined to make an appetising meal.
She prepared her vegetables, put her pan onto the open fire and laid the sausages neatly in a row like soldiers, then much to her dismay half way through the frying of the sausages, there was a soot fall, all over the sausages, she quickly took them from the grate into the kitchen and washed the sausages, the pan and started again. with a bit of gravy over the top who would be any of the wiser.
The meal was enjoyed by all.
