More about this scene
College Street Public Hall (on the right) fell into disuse, became a motor-body repair shop and is now a car park. Next door, the Congregational, now United Reform church (1882), stands apparently unaltered, as does The Old College (1729) beyond. Opposite, note the chimney cowls at the premises of Gammon & Son, Decorators. This area was known as Stoneham Village.
