More about this scene
Edwardian children pose obligingly in this charming photograph of Petworth. The spire of St Mary's church soars above the town, and to the right is the boundary wall of Petworth Park, the great mansion built by the Duke of Somerset towards the end of the 17th century. The wall is an incredible 13 miles long, enclosing a beautiful park of 2,000 acres.
