The parish church of Saints Peter and Paul became famous in 1851 when the vicar discovered a series of early wall paintings hidden under whitewash. He considered them ridiculous and ordered them covered over again, but at least he did not order them destroyed. They were uncovered again in the 1870s, and though they are heavily restored, they give us an indication of how medieval churches must have looked.
