Pitsea, Rectory Road c.1955

More about this scene
This parade was built in the years prior to the Second World War, as Pitsea's houses began to inch along Rectory Road. On the left stands Chalvedon Stores, with its bulky 1930s delivery-van and adverts for Whitbread's beer. Its neighbours include The Cabin newsagents, and a second-hand furniture shop.
