More about this scene
Now in Cornwall, Mount Edgecumbe, from where this picture was taken, was once part of Devon. The nearby vil- lage of Kingsand still has a stone showing where the boundary used to lie. The folly was constructed using stone from the tower of St Lawrence's church, which used to stand on the site now occupied by Royal William Yard in Stonehouse.
