Holidays In Polzeath
A Memory of Polzeath.
In the 50‘s we (my family and my mum’s sister’s family) spent two holidays in rented holiday houses in Polzeath. The first house was “The Hermitage” and was situated on the cliff overlooking the sea with no buildings in front. The sunsets were fabulous. The second house was “Beggars Roost” and was on the other side of the bay and overlooked the beach.
Us children (my cousins Penny, Sheila and I) attended the CSSM gatherings on the beach.
My cousin Penny and I had our first attempts with the surf boards. The days were spent on the beach.
These were our first holidays in the West Country. Before we had been to Felpham, Bognor Regis and Elmer Sands. I think with great fondness of our holidays together. Everybody had a job to do. The dads did the shopping, the mums cooked and we children had to make the beds.
Looking back these were the best holidays in my life.
