More about this scene
This was the original site of the huge cattle market. In the 19th century the street was occupied in the main by saddlers, but their premises gradually closed as horses gave way to the horsepower of cars. The last tram ran through the town on 1 November 1925. The parish church of St Giles can be seen at top left.
