The delivery boy with his basket, lounging against a pillar of the Harbour Office, seems to have adopted a far more natural pose than that of the lad nearest to him or the stiffly standing men. A sun dial on the wall doubtless took the place of the modern-day clock. James Fisher and Company were the largest owners of schooners in the late Victorian era, and continue today, operating a thriving fleet of coastal tankers. Portland

Saturday Dances
I only found this site today. With Covid, I believe we are all dreaming and thinking of things that we never would have thought about before. I woke up this morning and thought about the Saturday night dances held at Parkstone Grammar school (girls) as it was in the early 1950s. I think they were run by the GTC and they were very orderly. Iced Over
I was a boarder at Uplands School, Sandecotes Rd.,Parkstone and we often went for long distance runs around and near the harbour. We got a real surprise one cold morning, I think 1956 or early 57, when we found the harbour iced up and we were able to skate on it in our plimsolls as the gym shoes were called. Memorys Of Poole
1947 - I was born in Garland Road and can remember going to Blundles store. We moved to the Waterloo Estate when I was 4, we lived in 10 Wavell Avenue. In the 60's we used to go to a church youth club in Broadstone there were around 30 of us that used to hang out there and at a set of garages opposite the Silsburys house. Ashley Cross Secondary Girl's School
Roughly that time, I went to school there when it was Ashley Cross Girls School. I had many a happy time there. One of our cookery teachers left to have a baby then went on to teach at the Girls Grammar School in Sobers Lane. My tutor group was in the Oakes, we were not allowed up in the attic areas because it was too dangerous, but they were used early on. The music room also had a stage in it. ...see more

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
