More about this scene
Ever since undersea cables came ashore on this far western coast, Porthcurno has played a major role in world communications and commerce. Here, in an otherwise lonely valley, we can see the Eastern Telegraph Co's large cable station in the centre, with employees' housing in the distance. A tennis court was provided for the workers who had been exiled here from London.
