More about this scene
The village of Pyecombe lies close to a long railway tunnel which passengers on the London to Brighton line will know well. The Clayton Railway Tunnel was the scene of a tragic rail disaster involving three trains in 1861. 23 people were killed and 175 injured. The church at Pyecombe contains a rare lead font.
