Rainham Memory's

A Memory of Rainham.

Hi, just read your post. Very interesting. Was one of your brothers called Ray.? If so I was at school with him. Re Park Lane Motors, yes remember them well. I was friends with Jeff Smith who used to own and drive big American cars. Did you know where the name Park Lane Motors came From? It was where they used to live in Aveley. My dad, who also worked at Murex used to do a bit of private hire with a firm called
"Pathfinder cars" at the clock tower Rainham. They were very good customers to both him and myself when after his death in 1975 I went to work for AL cars by the social club. Like your mum mine also worked at Baby Relax in the mid to late 60'. I also remember Kildares store where I used to go with my granddad after going to his allotment down the side road. (Do you know that Kildares was converted into a bungalow? Still don't look right) Another weird thing. You say you used to live in Princes Park, well my cousin lived there with the surname Wiggins. Do you remember "Chandler's Bakery" at Chandlers Corner where they used so sell the best bread in rhe world. The smell was to die for. We also used to to the brook along Wennington Road where you could go tiddler fishing in safety. Another great playground was at the end of Ferry Lane where you could go for miles on your push bike, later on my old motorbike, along the sea wall of the Thames. Small world with good memories. Please reply if this rings a bell to you or anyone else.
