More about this scene

The parish of Rainow and Saltersford was one of the most extensive in the whole of Cheshire. One of the more unusual stories in Saltersford's history occurred during the Great War, when the area was invaded by millions of caterpillars. Theories abounded as to how the plague had occurred. Some said it was a plot by the Hun, and that the caterpillars had been dropped by Zeppelin.
