More about this scene
We are looking from the eastern arm of the harbour. Ramsgate seafront was to see many developments over the coming years. On the extreme right, the railway station would become an amusement arcade, and in 1904, the Pavilion would be built nearby. The seafront buildings between the Obelisk and the Clock House would in time all be demolished; they were storehouses, the Trustees' Committee Rooms and the harbourmaster's house, all situated in the pier yard. Eventually, the ancient dredger would also be scrapped.
