Ranworth, The Church Rood Screen 1934

More about this scene
The mid 15th-century rood screen is considered by many to be the finest in the country, having escaped damage by Cromwell's troops. A major restoration in 1960 revealed beautifully-coloured portraits of apostles and saints. The font and lectern are both noteworthy, and a mediaeval antiphoner in superb condition is on display. If you feel energetic, a climb to the roof of the tower will reward you with a magnificent view over broadland.
