A Memory of Rawmarsh.

I had an uncle who lived in Claypit lane Rawmarsh and we used to travel from Sheffield to visit them,is name was Horace Walton and he had three girls and one boy,the girls names were Olger,Joan Audrey and Brian he worked at the pit then he left and bought a lorry and delivered home coal, after that he moved out of Clay pit lane and bought a small holding somewhere near the top of clay pit lane and bred pigs,i used to visit them and go in the working mens club.but when I went in the forces I lost contact,and have seen them for about fifty years.

Can anyone remember the stepping Bridge somewhere near Parkgate/Greasborough it went over a railway line as far as I can remember. I am talking in the 1960's if so does anyone have any photos please.

Yes I remember I moved to ashwood Rd , used to go back way over the bridge to walk my dogs on stubin cricket pitch, I was born at meadow work northern dairy's claypit lane, would like to here back from you rawmarsh lass born and bread regards Jane and kev

The stepping bridge was at the bottom of Occupation Road, and crossed over the "wagon line" which carried coal from Stubbin Colliery to South Yorkshire Chemical Works at Mangham. The rail line and footbridge were removed, possibly in the 1970's, and the route was a footpath when we left the area in 2011.

My mother was born at 3,Meadow works in 1909 her name was Ivy Simpson and they had a sweet and tobacconist shop bottom of Green Lane.At number 1 was a family called Dudhill and number 5 Greens further down was Hansons.This was in the 30&40s.When the Duddle bugs came over and landed in Rosehill Park ( Victoria Park ).

Joan: I remember that stepping bridges at the bottom of Occupation Road, i used to look after the garden in the bungalow nearest the bridge when i was younger. The Bridge was probably gone very early 80's. I used to cut over there down to Greasbrough.
