Reading, On The Thames 1913

More about this scene
Reading developed further south on higher land along the banks of the River Kennet, well away from the then marshy meads bordering the River Thames. Indeed, the only Thames-side development has been between Caversham and Reading bridges. This has conserved the openness of the river banks which play a central role in the town's leisure.
