Reading, The Promenade And River Thames c.1955

More about this scene
Taken from the south bank promenade, this view looks west past the eight-oar racing boats on their stands. The promenade was formerly the towing path for barges and boats with meadows to the south, but these are now tamed, and the southern part is now occupied by the very modern Rivermead Leisure Centre.
