Donkeys are awaiting the arrival of the day's holidaymakers on the beach. A fisherwoman in a tall hat stands behind the donkey boys and their mounts. The Victoria Pier behind them cost £23,000 to build in 1867; in 1891 a grand pavilion was built at the entrance, capable of seating 2,500 people, and one of the largest organs in Britain was installed behind the stage. Rhyl Sands are famous as a great windy expanse of beach facing into Liverpool Bay. They were painted with vigour by David Cox in 1854.

My Memory Of Lyons Holiday Camp As A Child.

I was born in 1949 and lived next door to the camp on the council estate. Loved the summer times best as we would wander into the camp and often make friends with the other visiting children from all over the UK., So many happy memories of a wonderful childhood brought up in a holiday town.

Happy Holidays
How lovely to take a trip down memory lane and see old postcards of Rhyll. My mum, dad, l and my younger sister enjoyed many happy holidays in Rhyll during the 1960's. There was always so much to do; we loved the paddling pool and hiring the bikes. l can remember how eagerly we waited to choose our bike, not all of them were in good working order, we often came away with oil over us off the chain. Memories Are Made Of This
My father’s family moved to Rhyl in 1891 and my mother’s family in 1925. My parents fell in love on Rhyl Golf Links. Even though they settled in Portsmouth after their wedding, family bonds held fast and we spent every summer and chunks of other time in Rhyl in the family homes of my mother in Highfield Park and my father in Conwy Street. Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
