Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

Please Note: Our offices and factory are now closed until Monday 5th January when we will be pleased to deal with any queries that have arisen during the holiday period.

Saturday At The Pictures

A Memory of Rhymney.

The cinema on the right was the venue for our Saturday morning adventures. 3d to get in, all sweets half normal price.

Next to the cinema is the hardware store.

Further up on the left is the old toyshop and newsagents ( I used to do a paper round for them).

Finally, about half way up on the right is the street that leads to the park.

I use to go this cinema an do you remember the other cinema around the corner. My saturday mornings were there about 1950.

My mornings were in the 60's. Was the other cinema where they later built a garage? I also remember going to the flea pit in Pontlottyn.

i remember the cinema it was called the Scala.The last film shown was the Glass Bottomed Boat. The shop next door was Josephs.
Hills buses used to wait between the Royal and the Chemists for Tredegar & Abertysswg, the shop across the road was Glencross & Son. The cinema around the corner was the Hall .The Demo Club was built on the site, later the Library.

Hi, i'm new to this site,my name is John Barry, Alans' brother. My 1st job when i left school was in the Scala Cinema,had one night off every 2 weeks ,went to the workmens hall cinema on that night as i could get in free.My wages were £2,10 shillings a week,gave my mother £1,10 shillings board and lodge,had a whole pound to spend on myself. Great days.
