More about this scene
The Romans established a fort here, Bremetennacum, in AD80 by a ford across the Ribble, and the pillars supporting the porch of the White Bull Hotel are said to have come from one of its temples. The inn was built in 1707 and behind is the site of a 2nd-century bathhouse. Note the mounting block by the entrance.
