Rochdale, Town Hall Square 1892

More about this scene
The Square is dominated by the 190ft-high Town Hall tower. Even in 1892 it was not the original; that had been so badly damaged by fire that it had to be demolished. Its replacement was designed by Alfred Waterhouse and built in 1883. In the background is the parish church of St Chad's.
