More about this scene
Among the many old buildings in this stretch of the High Street is the Tudor brick Eastgate House, seen on the right, and now the Charles Dickens Centre. The interior is laid out in a series of tableaux depicting scenes from the lives of his characters, while in the garden is the Swiss chalet which the author had imported to the grounds of his home at Gads Hill.
