More about this scene

At the time when this photograph was taken, it was possible to hold a cattle market in the broad street of this sizeable village. This view looks south to the old Town Hall, the building in the centre in the distance. The street is thronged with farmers and their families. On the left are the animal pens, and on the right we can see their horses tied up outside the Angel Inn.
