More about this scene
Lawrence Sheriff School was opened in 1879 in response to Dr Temple's proposal in 1864 that a separate free school be established for local boys. It was built in mock Tudor style, and carries above the door a statue dressed in the livery of the Grocers' Company — a tribute to Lawrence Sheriff.
