There's a sign on the building on the left that reads 'National Health Dispensing Service'. Believe it or not Runcorn in the 1790s was considered an excellent place to visit for the good of your health and it was said of it that 'the air is impregnated with health (and) the salt bathing is very good'. But with the coming of industrialisation this attraction soon disappeared.
