Runcorn, Weston Cross c.1960

More about this scene
The old village of Weston, sitting on Runcorn Hill, has given its name to Weston Point where the docks and industries are largely to be found. This ancient preaching cross has been restored more than once so that today only the plinth is original. It is thought that it may have been used for preachers in open-air religious meetings at the time of the Reformation.
