Chapel Over A Shop

A Memory of Salford.

Does anybody remember a Chapel over a shop on Eccles New Road, Weaste inn the 60's and 70's? I believe there was also a children's club of some sort there.

Do you mean Sunshine Corner that was a children's Club just up from Eccles New Road on Weaste Lane. I never knew which church ran it but I used to go on a Thursday night. We had a lot of fun and had jam butties and cocoa for supper. I went in the 50's and went to St lukes school and also Tootal Road. I came to Australia in 1970.

Yes it was that one. I have met Ruth, the daughter of the man who ran it. She said her father was a minister but also worked as an insurance man.
I remember this place I also went on a Thursday night in the late 60s
I lived in Myrtle Grove & went to Tootal Drive infants school!
That is the one. Ruth his daughter is the warden at St. Aidan's church in Lower Kersal.
