More about this scene
This area was built by the mill owner Titus Salt as a model industrial village alongside a canal, river and railway, well away from the pollution of Bradford. Provision was made for welfare benefits and help was given to the aged, infirm and sick. The Club and Institute, now the Victoria Hall, provided enlightenment and education for the workers and their children. Outside the Hall are four sculptured lions, made for Trafalgar Square, but considered too small. Only two things were excluded from this village - a pub and a pawn shop.
