More about this scene

This exquisite royal estate was purchased by Queen Victoria for her beloved Prince of Wales in 1861. Within its 7,000 acres are the lands of seven parishes, and a profusion of deep woods, sandy heathland and broad grassy rides, which are the haunt of deer. The house was built a decade later in the Tudor style, a cumbersome confection of stone and red brick.

A Selection of Memories from Sandringham

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Sandringham

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

I was perhaps the last person born at the Rectory - 1st July 1955. Such happy memories of a childhood growing up in such a wonderful place. Lots of children my own age, ponies, endless adventures within a protected and safe estate. Leaving for Wiltshire at 16 was the first hard thing I had done!
