More about this scene
This view from Mill Lane has changed little, but the methods of harvesting the fields are worlds apart. The hay has been left to dry, and was no doubt turned before making the stooks lined up like Indian tepees along the field. These would be used to make a haystack with a thatched top, just like the one in the background.
