Headmaster

A Memory of Seal.

I can remember Oak Bank as a boarder, the Headmaster was Mr Ainley, the assistant Headmaster was Mr Turner a rather big fellow, the other teachers were, Mr Thomas, (music teacher who played jazz on the clarinet), my favourite, Mr Easor, one of two Welsh brothers, (both sport teachers, you guess, "yes" rugby), an art teacher who wanted to write children's books but I can't remember his name and Mr Cole the woodwork teacher. Mr and Mrs Ainley came up to my wedding in 1974, always thought of them as my father and mother. "Sorry" it was an all boys school when I went, The Grove next door was the girls school, shame not allowed in. Found a girlfriend in Sevenaoks, I was number 5. Only 35 children there when I went. They knocked down the old tin chapel and extended the school within a year of me being there. The corridor to the upper school went on forever. Loved the teachers, loved the dell., loved my time there.

I think my sisters went to Oak Bank in 59 - 60. They were Alexe and Paula Godman.
mark I cant remember your name in passing, I thought the school closed in 1971, according to council records please remind me of when it finaly closed, Im about to review when it closed, I had left in 1968/69 I was there from 1963/4 so Im not sure when it finaly closed me and my wife went there around 1978 ish, and it was a private dwelling both the lower school being the main building and the upper school were two different builds. I was so surprised to see the school as it was, we went into the old school building and had a natter with the secretary, She wouldnt say who owned it not surprised, "As the bottom site was worth at least three million pounds", "And the top part of the site was worth at least two million pounds," No wander the council closed the site down A.S.A.P. Iv got the date the school went to the council. Its a shame the school couldnt have stayed open, Oh" I wander why. Well mark I will speak to you soon Hope I havent bored you, Once again sorry.
