.....but is part of the grounds of Newstead Abbey, some 5 miles from Mansfield on the road to Nottingham. It was the home of the poet, Byron. The edifice at the end of the stretch of grass is the monument built by Byron for his beloved Newfoundland terrier, Bosun (or Boatswain).
